I think you will agree that nowadays all fishing tackle stores and mail order outlets carry felt sole wading boots in a wide range of prices and sizes to fit the needs of the modern fly fisher. You always get what you pay for and a good wading boots with proper care will give the average fly fisher many years of service. Wading boots used for fishing are just not another pair of high priced hiking boots. They are designed to be wider and higher between the arch and laces plus added toe room to accommodate thick neoprene waders and the booties found on most of the better quality breathable waders. Good wading boots are constructed with quality workmanship and water resistant materials that will withstand the rugged abuse of river wading. I suggest that before you purchase any pair of wading boots try them on with your own waders and socks to get a proper fit.

With all that being said, after a couple of seasons are you just a little disappointed in the way those high dollar felt sole wading boots perform? Do they seem to be a little more slippery on some river bottoms than you thought they would be? There is a cure that will solve the problem, and it works on newer felt sole bottom boots and old worn out felts bottom boots as well.

If you have a pair if wading boots (old or new), with just plain felt soles try this fix: Find a reputable carpet store in your local area that sells and installs commercial grade water proof carpeting, the type used in offices, restaurants, hotels etc. This is not carpet used in residential housing or indoor/outdoor carpet used on patios decks. Ask to see some ruminates with short (3/8″or less) tight nap without a fabric or rubber backing. Tell the sales person what you want to use it for so he will know just what to show you. You will only need a piece 3′x 4′ to make four or five pairs of soles for your wading boots. Next, you will need to purchases Barge waterproof contact cement in the red and yellow can to glue the carpet over the existing felt soles. I have not used the Barge cement in the green can but I have been told that it is safer to use and works just about as well. The 32 oz. can of cement will do 5 or 6 pairs of carpet soles or felt sole replacements and it can be found at most major building supply stores or shoe repair shops. You will also need a couple rolls of ¾ inch reinforced strapping tape

If you want to remove the old felts soles from a pair of wading boots you can do it yourself: In an open work area away from flames or sparks, apply a liberal amount of acetone to the felt soles and allow them to sit with soles facing upward for 1 to 2 hours. Now using a heavy screwdriver, slip the tip between the felt sole the rubber sole of the boot at the toe end and pry the felt up. Then using a large pair of Vise Grip pliers, clamp down on the old felt sole at the toe end and pull it back and upwards; like opening a can of sardines, the old felt should peel off quite easily. However, if the felt soles are sewn onto the bottoms of the boots you will need to go to a shoe repair shop to have the felts removed, or you can just glue the carpet to the felts.

In your work area place the carpet on a hard surface with the backing up. Place the wading boot on the carpet and use a black marking pen, making an outline of the sole and mark “R” for right and “L” for left. If your boots have a raised heel, draw a line across the carpet sole for the heel. I use a very sharp filleting knife to carefully cut out the replacement soles about ¼ inch wader than the boot sole. If your boots have the raised heel cut it where the cross line is marked. Don’t worry about the replacement sole being a little oversized, you can easily trim it to size after the glue has dried. Now you are ready to apply the carpet to the bottoms of the boots.

In a well-ventilated work area, on a newspaper covered workbench, place blocks of wood on each side of the boots for support to keep the soles facing up. Then carefully apply a thick coat of Barge cement over the soles on the boots, making sure that the edges are well coated and allow the cement to become somewhat tacky. If the cement is absorbed into the felt soles apply another coat. Also apply one thick coat of cement to the hard back of the carpet sole replacements, and allow that cement to become tacky. Depending on the air temperature it may take 30 to 40 minutes for the glue to become tacky. This is contact cement, so carefully align the carpet soles with the bottoms of the boots and press them together the harder the better. Slip the boots on and walk around, stomping up and down, putting as much pressure as you can on areas of the bottom if the boots. Remove the boots and fold the upper part of the boots down into the boot opening. Use the strapping tape to very tightly wrap the carpet soles to the bottom of each boot. Make about 8 to 10 very tight wraps around the boot from heel to toe, then tightly apply about 3 pieces of tape from the bottom up and over the toe of each boot then do the same to the heels. The boot should now almost be completely covered with tightly wrapped strapping tape. After 2 to 3 days of drying, carefully remove the tape and using a sharp knife, trim the carpet as close as you can to the rubber sole of the boot. If you want a really neat job you can use a small propane torch to carefully seal the edges of the carpet.

I suggest that if you just want to replace the old felts with new felts replacements, this gluing method really works. However if you are not a handy man or you don’t have the time, just take the carpeting to a good shoe shop and have them put the soles or felt sole replacements on for you.

The quality and longevity of this project is dependent on the quality of the carpet, the amount of pressure that is applied to the newly glued replacements, and the proper application of Barge contact cement.

The History Of Confortina Shoes

Confortina shoes were first produced in Portugal in 1992 by Orthopeadics who recognised that there was a gap in the market for comfortable shoes that were also designed to prevent and treat foot problems. By studying the feet and how they move Orthapaedics wanted to create a shoe that would work with the foot and prevent any damage while also offering supreme comfort… and so Confortina footwear was born.

Confortina footwear can offer much needed comfort for those who suffer from conditions including diabetes, acute foot pain and neuropathy. As Confortina shoes are wide fitting they are also suitable for people with problem feet. The sole of Confortina shoes is unique as 50% of it contains air bubbles which are used alongside arch stiffeners to give the wearer superior support when walking without having to compromise on comfort.

Confortina shoes have been specially designed so that the upper is moulded to the sole of the shoe, this bypasses the standard process of using heavy stitching or glue. This innovative technique makes Confortina footwear much more flexible and durable than standard shoes and also makes maintaining them a lot easier as they can be put straight into the washing macine or cleaned using a cloth.

Confortina footwear are exceptionally comfortable and have been designed to repair the damage modern living has had on our feet. Confortina shoes have a unique lightweight sole which has zero pressure points, this means that Confortina footwear can be worn throughout the day and still give excellent comfort and support.

In designing Confortina footwear the innovative Thermy-Tex and Multi-Flex materials were used. These materials have been designed to help prevent the bacteria which is responsible for foot odour, so wearing Confortina shoes can keep your feet fresh all day long!

Confortina shoes are so versatile that they can be worn both inside and outside. Whether they are worn throughout the day or just as slippers Confortina shoes are the ultimate treat for your feet and as Confortina footwear is available in a range of colours they can be purchased to suit any outfit! So now you can experience the supreme comfort without having to compromise on style!

What is your greatest hurdle when starting an auto repair business on a shoe string? Beyond your tools, beyond your space, beyond the constant need to check and double check your books your biggest hurdle will be getting the word out.

How do I know this? Because I work with shops who have been in business for decades and they still have a problem keeping the car count up!

In this day and age word of mouth (WoM) is the most powerful tool you have. However, WoM has changed. We’re now seeing reports from shop owners, in the same place servicing the same customers for over 35 years who are seeing drop offs in their numbers.

Is this how you want to launch your new venture?

Starting An Auto Repair Business On A Shoe String – #1 Mistake You Must Avoid

Before I give you some information on what you should look into in order to be successful starting an auto repair business on a shoe string, there is one thing you must NOT do.

GET OUT OF THE PHONEBOOK!!!!

The phonebook is the #1 way you will dump scads of cash down the drain and never see any return. Frequently when we interview new clients we ask them what they do to get their names out there. We hear: direct mail, coupons, internet… but very infrequently will anyone mention the phonebook.

So we ask directly. And they say “Yes, of course we’re in the phonebook!”

The phonebook has become something most shop owners ‘just do’. I have to admit, that’s some amazing persuasive force those phonebook folks have on the auto repair industry! But like so many other rituals, it has simply become a costly and completely useless tradition.

You can live without it. Like they say with drugs: Just say no.

Here are some hard, cold facts about phonebook advertising:

#1: Phonebooks provide nothing in the way of relevant information. They are a list. Furthermore, they are a list which makes every company look pretty much the same. The fact is you need to stand out in a crowd if you’re going to have a prayer of surviving in this massively competitive market.

#2: Your customers are not going to find you in the phonebook. Almost every man, woman and child in America is using the internet to find information. Be there. But be there correctly. (More on this later)

#3: Phonebook readership has declined by an insane amount in the past 5 years. Sure they mail one out to every home in the country, but does anyone read it? No. People use phonebooks as kindling or as something to prop up chairs.

Starting An Auto Repair Business On A Shoe String – Your Biggest Solution

Since you’re starting an auto repair business on a shoe string, you have a massive advantage over your competition. You have not yet fallen prey to the mindless, cookie-cutter advertising traditions your competition has been butchering for decades.

In fact, you may not even need to use traditional advertising to start.

Here’s a question to consider: why does word of mouth work in the first place?

We’ve started asking shop owners that question and what we’ve gotten back is pretty good. Most shop owners give variations of this: “WoM works because we did a good job. People tell their friends when they have car problems and that’s what keeps food on our plates.”

What’s wrong with this statement? Nothing. It’s 100% true. But it’s not the complete picture.

Here’s another question: how can you create WoM before you have any customers to sing your praises?

The answer is tied into the reason WoM works in the first place. WoM works because you have established trust with your customer.

Starting An Auto Repair Business On A Shoe String – The #1 Golden Rule

People buy more goods and services from those who they know and trust. And the #1 way to build trust is to become an information service provider to those people.

Become that information provider to your local market, and you may never have to spend a dime on conventional advertising.

Starting An Auto Repair Business On A Shoe String – Problems = Potential

Did you know that in most markets auto repair shops are frequented by a massive percentage of women drivers? Did you also know most of these women drivers feel they are being completely taken advantage of? They fear taking the car into the shop.

What if you were to address this concern directly?

What do you think would happen if you were to offer free lessons where people who feel scammed could come to your shop and learn how to avoid the problems in the first place?

Who do you think would enjoy this? Women. Your customers. Everyone.

Spreading the word would cost about as much as a sheet of paper. You would create a press release, send it to the local media and then get the information into the hands of the PTA or some other group.

Offer your information completely free and never, never pitch or sell your services. Have the people who come ask questions, give demonstrations and show examples of what they need to watch out for.

Do this 1x per month and you will find yourself so busy you’ll have to double your staff.

What do you think the result would be for your business if you were to be seen as the #1 facility in your town where people can go and not be taken advantage of?

Total Cost: $0. Total Effectiveness: Infinite

The first question that I am always asked by new students is, “What kind of tap dance shoes should I get?” Given that this is the season when many students are taking tap classes for the first time, I thought this short list of tips might be helpful and timely.

The names that most new students run across are Bloch Tap Shoes & Capezio Tap Shoes. Lucky for you, I remember when these names meant nothing to me as well! Let’s move beyond the names, and get to the advice.

Your 1st Pair of Tap Dance Shoes Should Fit Snugly

Comfort is the most important consideration when purchasing tap shoes. If the shoe doesn’t fit properly, the style and sound quality really will not matter. A tap dance shoe should be snug. There is no need to have extra space in a tap shoe unless you are still growing or have a medical condition. Over time, and with frequent use (and practice), the leather in the shoes will stretch some…this means that if you start with a shoe that’s too big, you are likely to eventually crack a mirror or some poor audience member’s head with it!

The Style of the Tap Dance Shoe is Up To You

Quality tap shoes tend to last a long time and you don’t want to be married to something that you can’t stand to look at. Ladies this means, that if you really want heels – get ‘em, if it doesn’t matter to you – don’t get ‘em. Sorry guys, most male tap dance shoes don’t have high heels.

Heels (not that I wear them) can be a little more difficult to balance on and will require you to be a little more “up on your toes” while dancing. If you are willing to put in the extra work, go for it. Otherwise, stick with the flat shoes.

In general, I recommend a firm, leather character tap shoe with a “box” toe (supports the toes) and a firm sole (supports the foot).

You Should Spend As Much As Possible On Tap Dance Shoes…Not!

I knew that would get your attention. Tap dance shoes can be very expensive but there are many reasons not to spend a lot of money on them.

Here are a few:

- You are a beginner. Very expensive shoes are not going to change that. Did the Michael Jordan basketball shoes make you play like Michael Jordan?

- If you later decide that tap dancing is not for you, do you really wanna be out $150? FYI…The resale market on tap shoes is not very generous.

- You probably don’t yet know what you like in a tap dance shoe. After tap dancing for a while, you will be more knowledgeable about your personal preferences and what’s important to you.

A good price for your first pair is anywhere between $30 – $70, though, this is not a hard and fast rule. The most popular brands, as mentioned above, are Capezio tap shoes, Bloch tap shoes, & Leo’s.

Please note that the taps are sometimes not included with the shoes and cost an additional $20. You may also have to pay a few bucks to get them attached at a local shoe repair shop.

I hope that you found this brief guide to buying tap shoes to be helpful!

Terrence “Taps” Bennett maintains the official Tap Dance blog at http://www.TapDanceMan.com/blog

This site is updated five days a week with tap dance articles, news, events, auditions, and tap dance video clips! It’s a great resource for all things relating to tap dancing.

Accessorize Your Mountain Bike

You’ve decided to take up the exciting and challenging sport of mountain biking. Unlike casual biking, you need much more than just a helmet to ensure that you have a safe ride as you hit the trails.

Mountain biking is such a popular sport that there is now a vast range of accessories for both men and women. Make sure you do a bit of research on each item you want to purchase to make sure you buy the best quality for the amount of money you want to spend.

Bike helmet
We may be listing the bike helmet as an ‘accessory’ but it really isn’t. It is a necessary piece of equipment. In mountain biking, it is not a question of if you’re going to fall, it’s a question of when. And when you take a header over your handlebars, having a secure helmet on your head could well save your life. Although you can buy most accessories second hand if you so desire, the bike helmet is something that you want to buy brand-new, and make sure that it fits your head properly. And if you do have an accident in which any damage occurs to the helmet, the wisdom is that you should purchase another one. One accident per helmet – that’s the rule.

Eye protection
Have you ever been riding on the road and been passed by a car that sends up a spurt of gravel at you? If any of that gets into your eyes, you have to stop immediately to clear your vision. If you’re on a trail heading downhill at a breakneck pace, and a baleful bee takes that opportunity to hit you in the eye, the following seconds could end up being very uncomfortable. Glasses or sunglasses are one solution, but the best method is to wear goggles. Whatever you get, make sure that lenses are non-breakable.

Hydration system
It’s common sense to bring a water bottle with you when you go out on a trail ride. It’s very easy to get dehydrated which brings your energy right down. However, in order to drink from your water bottle you have to take your hand off one of the handles, and there are sometimes when you don’t want to do that. A hydration backpack is a good solution. As a backpack you can put all kinds of necessary inside it, and when you need a drink you just reach over with your mouth to the bite valve and take a sip.

Mountain bike shorts
These days bike saddles are a lot more comfortable than they used to be. There are saddles made especially for women as well a
1000
s men, and you can purchase gel-filled saddles that make the hours you spend on your bike a bit more comfortable. But you’ll also want padded bike underwear and padded bike shorts, just for extra comfort.

Mountain bike gloves
If you fall off your bike (or should that be, when), your hands will probably be the first thing to hit the ground – either a paved road, a graveled road, dirt, mud, bushes…all sorts of hazards that can rip up your hands unless they’re properly protected. Gloves serve another purpose as well, of course. If you’re heading down the trail your hands will get sweaty which could cause problems keeping your hands on your bike grips. Wearing gloves eliminates that problem.

Mountain biking shoes

These days there’s a shoe made for every sport under the sun, including that of mountain biking. The main difference in mountain bike shoes is the type of sole – designed for the different types of pedals out there: with clips or clipless. The clipless type of pedal requires that your shoes be fitted with special cleats. The shoes need to be durable and comfortable.

Trail repair kit
Regardless of what type of biking you do, it always makes sense to carry a bicycle repair kit with you. However, you can ‘get away’ with not carrying one if you ride on the streets of your city. You’ll just be a phone call away from someone who can come and help you if you have a flat, after all. It’s not that easy if you’re out in the woods and your cell phone doesn’t work. Always have a a multi-tool designed for bike repair, tire levers, and a patch kit for fixing flat tires. However, having a repair kit will do you little good if you don’t know how to use the tools! So make sure that after you purchase your kit you familiarize with each of the tools and how to use them! It’s easy once you know how.

Next week, Hands of Compassion (hocm.info) is blessing Casa de Salvacion by sending a container load of Goods to be distributed to the poor in Guatemala. And we as Children of Christ rejoice at the opportunity to put in the hands of those who need our help things that if we did not recycle would most probably end up in a dumpster, or somewhere in a landfill in Canada.

This is just one of many efforts we make, as we scratch and scrape where we should be gathering plenty. Because in spite of the supposedly bad economy, we walk around our city on garbage day, and it fills us with sadness to see how wasteful we are how carelessly we act with the provisions God has put in our hands, and how in the midst of that wastefulness, we prefer to toss things away and convert them into an additional problem to society instead of recycling them, extending their lives and giving them to someone willing to put them to good use for someone else.

The third world Countries lack everything, and when we put in the trash something useless to us, something we would say there is no way we can get extra life out of, there is someone in Haiti or Guatemala or sometimes even in our own backyard wishing to have that same thing and not being able to.

Third world countries have become experts at recycling, they have learned to extend the useful life out of practically everything, because not having the funds to purchase new they have learned to repair, to patch things up, and to make the old new again.

Last week I was in a rural part of Mexico, and I was wearing my favorite pair of walking shoes; they are perfectly wearable practically new, but somehow one of them had a torn on a corner, and except because I love those shoes, as far as I was concerned they were ready for the dumpster. While walking on a plaza in one of the streets of San Antonio in the state of Hidalgo, I noticed a small string hanging out of a corner on the same shoe that was torn, so I carelessly pulled it. All of a sudden the whole side of the shoe came apart; the string became a long peace of cord which was literally holding the shoe together. I saw with disappointment how it just opened up and made it impossible to walk; almost in tears I pointed the problem to one of the local pastors walking with us, to which He smiled and said; No problem, let us take care of it.

I smiled back at him as I remembered where I came from, how my own uncle was a shoe repair man, and how he would take any worn up tattered shoe and turn it to new with just a few patches and replacements.

We drove to a narrow street filled with all sort of tinkering stores, and without getting out of the car the Pastor took my shoe and handed it over to one of the tinkerers, asked how much and how long would it take to fix it and then he drove away leaving my broken shoe behind, when we returned fifteen minutes later the problem had disappeared, the shoe looked brand new again, in fact it looked even better than it was originally, and it only took the equivalent of one dollar and twenty cents and a brief detour on our way to accomplish that extraordinary feat.

I am ashamed to say that I have thrown away, computers, televisions, clothing, furniture, even jewelry at times, which were just “broken’ our friend Maria in the Dominican Republic has been using for two and a half years a DVD player we gave her because it would not turn on; she got it repaired with the equivalent of one dollar and fifty cents..

Meanwhile we have developed a great problem out of finding a solution to the disposal of thousands of tons of garbage which gets produced every day by our consumption hungry lifestyle. It costs billions of dollars a year to process the mountains of waste we continuously produce while billions of people go without food weeks at a time in other parts of the planet.

Food alone is one of the largest generators of waste in our society. According to a large research organization, in the U.S. alone enough food gets thrown in the garbage every day to be able to feed a country of five million for a whole year, and this goes on every single day of the year.

We complain about our economy and how bad we have it and yet we can afford to produce such amount of waste.

According to the World Health Organization, we produce enough food to feed every person in the planet without ever running out, yet the bulk of this food is consumed by less than twenty countries in the planet.

The Bible teaches us that giving bring blessings to our lives (Acts 20:35, Deut 15:7) and when we look at things out of the abundance of our hearts, we will discover myriads of things we don’t use or need, things we can live without things we would not miss.

We can also look at the way we use food at home or at restaurants and spare a portion of what we are spending on grocery to bring it to the poor through one of the many available charities.

Most charities would not take the stuff that you consider useless, but there are still many who would; we are one of them, and we are always ready to send those items to places where they can be repaired and reused by the less fortunate.

By giving a bit of yourself to someone in need, you are doing a lot for yourself and for the whole planet, and furthermore, it is an act of obedience to God’s commandments.

Casa de Salvacion works in partnership hundreds of churches in ten countries in Central and South America and the Caribbean, bringing hope to the poor communities of the Hispanic world.

You have in your hands the opportunity to increase your treasures in heaven by cleaning up your closed, your garage, your food cabinet, and a portion of your wallet. You can reach us at casadesalvacion.com, or you can contact any charity of your preference; what is important is that starting today you make a decision to eliminate the waste in your life, to reduce the amount of stuff that goes on the curb and to let it be a blessing to you and to others.

May the Lord of Hope Bring encouragement to your heart, and may he also bring through you a fresh breeze of Hope to the Billions that will go another day without food or shelter.

A nice pair of boots is not a cheap investment. Cowboy boots are more expensive than normal shoes. That’s because the materials that are used and the construction techniques that are employed are specialized.

A pair of high-quality cowboy boots, such as Twisted-X boots, speaks volumes of your fashion statement just like your leather jacket or designer pants.

Keeping the boots aesthetically pleasing and well maintained is important because they play an important part of your fashion. No one wants to look at mud-caked, dusty, grungy, miserable-looking pair.

More important than cleanliness, however, is the condition of the boot. At all times, the boots shouldn’t have any holes, the Velcro straps should not be frayed, eyelets for the drawstrings shouldn’t be rusted, and the finish shouldn’t be marred.

Since boots are exposed to harsh elements and uneven terrain, it sometimes happens that they get damaged. If left unattended, this damage could become worse and could ruin a perfectly good pair. For relatively minor damage, you can repair the boots yourself. Here are some tips on how to fix them yourself.

1) For a simple crack in the sole of the boot, a simple remedy is recommended: you can use Shoe Goo. Sold only for a few dollars in shoe repair shops, Shoe Goo is an adhesive that is specially formulated to glue and seal cracks and splits in leather, rubber, and other materials in a shoe.

2) Minor scratches and scrapes on the boot may look like major damage. But don’t worry; they can be fixed easily.

Determine the material of the boot first; this information is normally printed inside the boot. If the material is leather, especially if it is a kind with a waxy finish, it can be fixed with a product called a leather lotion. The product, which is available in many shoe stores, prevents further cracking by moisturizing the leather. It is easy to use; just use a clean, soft cloth to wipe the substance on the leather material. It can smoothen out and hide scratches even seemingly deep ones.

3) If your boots are suede, do not use a leather lotion. Use instead a dry-cleaning bar. This product is usually sold together with a bristle brush. This cleaning bar has a very similar composition to a pencil eraser. In a way, you are using the bar to “erase” the scratches of the suede, just like the way you use an eraser on paper. Once the scratches are gone, you can use the brush to bring the suede’s fiber back up.

Finishing it requires a generous application of deep-cleaning suede spray or water repellant.

4) If, after walking in the snow, you find out that your boots have a leak, you need to thoroughly waterproof the footwear. Apply a liberal amount of mink oil. This makes the leather soft yet water resistant as well. When the oil is dry, apply a water-repellency spray on the seams. The inside of the boots should be treated with this spray as well.

For more serious damage, you would need to have your boots repaired by a professional. Not only damaged boots look bad, but they can also be dangerous, causing you to trip and lose your balance.

How To Solve The Problem Of Large Size Women’s Shoes

American women spend more than $3 billion dollars every year on surgical foot repair and due to women cramming their feet into smaller shoes, 80% of all foot ailments like bunions, corns, hammertoes, and calluses, are caused by ill-fitting shoes.

Large size women’s shoes used to be extremely difficult to find. Many women would have to locate specialist stores and wait on orders for their size. However, Larger feet are no longer considered to be abnormal as they once were. The average women’s shoe size is now around a US size 9 [UK size 7] compared to a US size 6 or 7 [UK size 4 or 5] in the sixties and seventies.

Nowadays large size women shoes are widely available like never before. Whether you want a dressy pump or a comfortable athletic trainer, retailers and manufacturers are figuring out that there is an ever-growing market in large size women shoes. The fact is women’s feet are getting bigger. While women over the age of 35 have an average shoe size of seven and a half, their younger counterparts average a shoe size of eight and a half.

Twenty years ago, a woman with big feet had very limited options in shoes, felt embarrassed and singled out for having larger feet. The only styles available to them were boring, plain and frankly quite old fashioned. Fortunately, designers and manufacturers have finally introduced large size women’s shoes into their ranges and Now, she can choose from a vast array of business, casual, and even golfing shoes.

* Make sure that you have both of your feet sized every time you buy shoes.
* Take the measurement standing up and sitting down.
* Ask the salesperson for suggestions on shoe brands that might work with your foot size and shape.
* If you are trying to minimize the size of your feet, look for shoes with rounded toes and moderate heels.
* Stay away from pointy pumps, ballerina flats, and t-straps that can lengthen the appearance of your feet
* It is better to stick to neutral tones or colors that blend well with hose or pants.

The old saying big is beautiful has never been more prevalent than now and if you do need to look for large size women’s shoes shopping for them onli

Stilettos are a prized fashion accessory which has been in and out of style since the 1950s. Many great designers have chosen to provide their unique takes on this simple yet versatile design. As a result, a shopper can count on the fact that a style and fit exists to suit all different levels of income.

Of course, even those without extravagant incomes may find themselves splurging on an expensive pair at least once in their lifetimes. It is of particular interest in these situations that the heels be maintained.

Unfortunately, it is very common for the heel tips of even high quality stilettos to become subject to wear. Under these circumstances, many owners find themselves visiting a shoe repair shop. When a pair of these heels is lovingly worn regularly, it is possible for these repair costs to just keep adding up.

For this reason, a person may prefer to tackle the simple task of heel tip replacement in a do-it-yourself fashion. Luckily, this is not too difficult a procedure. In fact, it is a very simple undertaking which requires only basic tools such as a hammer and pair of pliers at most.

The heel tip of a stiletto shoe will be either metal or plastic. Plastic is a much more common material for this purpose. However, metal is still occasionally used for some applications.

Heel tips should be selected based on color, pin size, shape, material, and hardness. It is important to match the new tip with the original style.

The first step of replacing a heel tip is to remove the older one. Standards pliers will suffice to perform this action. With a plastic tip, the plastic is likely to break during removal. This is, of course, not a problem as it is an unusable shoe part anyway. Simply remove the pin afterward, under this circumstance.

Metal tips will come off with the pin. Removal of these will take much more force. However, it is important to not wrench the pin too much during the endeavor as it may shear. Smaller, continual alternating twists will do the trick.

With the pin out, it is possible to tidy up the leather around the heel at this point in time, if that is desirable. A leather adhesive is a great choice for handling this matter.

The next step is to apply the new tip. Position the pin correctly and hit it in squarely with a hammer. This task may be accomplished without the use of a hammer, provided a block of wood is available. Hold up the shoe, position the pin, then smack the heel down strongly onto the wood.

After this is done, the sides of the heel tip may be ground down through the use of a file. This action will keep stilettos and heel tips attractively matched.
